Challenge
We were approached by St John’s Primary School who were looking to have a complete refresh of their existing markings to liven up the now well used games on their playground. An important consideration for the school was to organise this exciting renovation of their playground in good time to ensure completion by the last week of term as a heartfelt leaving gift, the new markings being a long lasting reminder of the hard work and dedication given to the school by the Headteacher and a cause for a celebratory send-off!
There were several factors for our team to think about; the best solution for either removing or covering the existing markings, budget requirements and the most efficient plan to suit the playground space including for any specific markings requested by the school.
Solution
Due to how the existing markings had worn on St John’s playground our experienced team were able to assess and determine that although removals were a considered option, in this instance due to our ability to manufacture bespoke designs and sizes, we would be able to use our new markings to simply cover over the older designs ensuring that the playground would receive a fresh new look! After discussion with the school, our design team even created a brand new product to reflect their requirement in the form of a vibrant, eye catching QWERTY keyboard as a fantastic addition to the project. Furthermore, as part of our design process, we produced an accurate playground plan as a visual representation, allowing the school to see how the new markings would complement each other as well as fitting the space available. The school were delighted and instructed us to proceed!
Outcome
Whilst the agreed markings were manufactured, we updated the school with progress reports before an installation date was then scheduled. Our installers were thrilled to attend St John’s and using our new larger markings they set to work overlaying to cover over the old markings so they were no longer visible which provided a complete refresh and a bright new playground for the school to enjoy for years to come! The bespoke QWERTY keyboard really complimented the scheme and thanks to the proficiency of the Thermmark team, the project was installed within budget, on time and we were able to meet all the design objectives set by the school. The Headteacher was overjoyed with such a wonderful surprise and was able to see the children enjoying the new markings in his honour during the remainder of the term!
